In Sports, there are few things more painful than watching the defeat of a former great champion.

One of the greatest female athletes on earth has taken another blow to her UFC career—and what a massive blow it was.

Shocking as Ronda Rousey is beaten by Amanda Nunes in just 48 seconds on her highly anticipated  return to the UFC.
In a shockingly brutal and brief display, the formerly unshakeable Rousey was defeated by Nunes inside a minute in Las Vegas, in front of stunned fight fans.

The long time away from the fight scene probably hurt the former champion more than it helped. Having spent more than a year away from the sport, following her shock defeat to Holly Holm in November 2015, Rousey suffered defeat as referee Herb Dean stepped in to stop the contest following a rapid and ferocious start by the Nunes.

She had no answer for the Brazilian's relentless attack. Rousey showed little defensive acumen as she staggered and stumbled backward with Nunes relentlessly pursuing her and landing multiple shots.

Referee Herb Dean stopped the bout with Rousey still on her feet, and Rousey briefly protested the stoppage before leaving the cage in her mother's arms.
High on her victory the 'Lioness' moved Ronda.

''Forget about Ronda Rousey!' a triumphant Nunes shouted to the sellout crowd. 'She's going to go do movies. Forget about her. She has a lot of money already.'
But the sellout crowd was shocked when Rousey couldn't compete in her first fight since losing her belt to Holly Holm 13 months ago in her first career defeat.

Her era of invisibility further shattered by the humiliating defeat. Rousey became arguably the world's most famous female athlete and a combat sports trailblazer while she rocketed atop the UFC, but a year away from the sport apparently did little to heal the holes in her game.

She is still one of the highest paid female athletes in the world today. She made a guaranteed $3million for her comeback bout, while Nunes' guaranteed payday was just $200,000.
'I knew I was going to beat (Rousey),' Nunes boasted. 'I'm the best on the planet.'

Ronda Rousey's defeat causes many to wonder about her future in the UFC.
