Woman who married two husbands caught but spared prison

Double life. A woman who married two husbands was caught when her confused husband saw pictures of her second wedding day she posted on Facebook.

Social media has really exposed more illicit relationships than well positioned spy cameras!
Bigamist Lisa Everard

What in the world was she thinking? Lisa Everard, 35, desperately tried to hide the truth from one confused husband by claiming the Facebook pictures were of her as a friend's bridesmaid. But it was clear—Her first husband Elliott saw the snaps of her walking down the aisle in a white wedding dress.

Suspicious and confused, Mr Everard checked the marriage records at the register officer and discovered she had illegally married her secret lover Michael Hughes.

Caught in the act. A proven bigamist. After the deceit was exposed, the mum-of-four left their large country home near Chepstow, Gwent, and moved in with her lover/secret husband— Mr Hughes in a terraced former council house.
Prosecuting Mark Battrick told Cardiff Crown Court: "Mr Everard was devastated. He was distraught at what he had seen "He described feeling numb and said his world had turned upside down."

As it should. Imagine discovering that the woman you love—the woman you married and even have kids with, is a conniving, heartless individual who liked you enough to marry you, but despises you enough to date and be married to someone else simultaneously.

It a hard nut to crack, and when cracked, a hard nut to swallow.

The court heard how her salesman husband lost a stone in weight after discovering his wife's second wedding in July this year.

Guilty plea. Mrs Everard pleaded guilty to one count of bigamy but was spared a period behind bars after a judge ruled it was not in the public interest to impose an immediate custodial sentence.

Peter Donnison, defending, said Everard had no previous convictions and said her new husband Mr Hughes is sticking by her.

He told the court Everard said the relationship with her husband Mr Everard was over "some years prior to her re-marrying".

Devastating impact on so many levels. The judge said the impact on Mr Everard was not just emotional but financial as he was providing for their two children by himself. Lisa also has two children from a previous marriage.

Judge Philip Harris-Jenkins said: "You should have bore all of that in mind before you acted in the selfish way that you did.
"This was not an act of naivety. This was a deception."

Indeed Judge—Extreme deception borne of ingrained selfishness. Breathing two different airs from two different lives. Its like something out of Narnia.
