Playing Iron Mike in a movie is not as easy as it sounds. He is a complex person who has lived a complicated life in and out of the ring. But who better to play the controversial former fighter than Academy award winning actor Jamie Foxx.
Yes it's true. It appears that Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx will play Mike Tyson in an upcoming movie of the boxer's life. Iconic director Martin Scorsese will direct the biopic.
The legendary boxer Tyson himself has confirmed the rumors, stating “It’s on, as of right now. Jamie Foxx has signed on for it. Filming hasn’t started yet but it’s going to happen. A lot of people aren’t going to like the things I’ve done in my life.”
Not all of us are fully aware of the tumultuous details of Tyson's life, especially during his illustrious career.
In the ring he was the most feared fighter in the world, and often caused grown men and seasoned fighters to cower like rabbits caught in car headlights. And no one blamed them for their dread. Back then, he was the world's most dangerous man. The ring Assassin, mowing down other great fighters like they were nothing.
Back in 2013, the rumours that Foxx will be playing Mike, were confirmed by the Oscar winner, as he clearly cited his potential involvement with the project. He also revealed both Scorsese’s and Terence Winter’s association on the project.
This will not be the first time Foxx will play a complex character. In 2004 he pulled off a groundbreaking performance when he played blind musician Ray Charles. His critically acclaimed performance earned him a best actor Oscar. So many people believe that he can pull off the Role just fine.
