Conor Mcgregor :another superfight against Manny PacquiaoIt's on everyone's lips now. Manny Pacquiao versus Conor Mcgregor is the fight everybody wants to see. Manny hasn't fought since he lost his world title to Australian underdog Jeff Horn several months ago. And the trash talking Irishman Mcgregor hasn't been in the Octagon for over a year and hasn't been in a competitive event since his much hyped superfight and 10th round loss to undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.
But ever since the UFC star faced the former multi weight champion, his already impressive rep seemed to go through the roof inpite of the loss he suffered.
We shouldn't forget that he made more money from that one fight, than he has made his entire career in the octagon—a reported $100 million dollars for his heroics that night.
And now everyone wants a piece of Mcgregor. And the star isn't shying away from any challenge. Be it against a retired Oscar De La Hoya or Pacquiao or even a rematch against Floyd, nothing is off the table.
The temptation to ride this particular money train has got some people concerned that he is neglecting his initial ladder to fame. He rose to fame in the world of fight sports as an MMA fighter, demolishing opponents with a ferocious skill and technique never before seen in the sport. But after he beat Nate Diaz and Made UFC history, the deadly Irish fighter turned his sights away from the UFC and towards the boxing ring, and he set his ego driven eyes on the retired pound for pound King Floyd Mayweather.
It was an excellent opportunity for the boxer who was 49 and 0 to surpass his tie with Heavyweight boxing legend Rocky Marciano, who also was undefeated throughout his 49 fight career.
Mayweather of course could have had his pick of opponents for his intended historic record breaking fight. But he chose the unlikeliest of opponents in Mcgregor. To the anger of many in the boxing community.
But in typical fashion he ignored the critics and faced off against the dangerous MMA fighter who was actually undertaking his very first proffesional boxing bout.
The fight, when it came, was a bit of a surprise. It actually turned out better than everyone expected as the younger but inexperienced boxer took the legend to the 10th round before suffering an inevitable TKO.
But instead of his reputation going down because of the loss, it did the very opposite. Now he has been challenged by another great fighter who is at the twilight of his career. Pacquiao is serious about fighting Mcgregor, and talks have already begun for their bout.
Many believe this fight will be a far different story from the last fight. Floyd is a tactician who reads his opponents better than they can read themselves. A defensive master that finds your weaknesses and exploits them excellently while avoiding punishment from you. But Manny is a different sort of fighter. A bruiser. A brutal knockout artiste who never lets up on his opponents. He destroys them with explosive power and a relentless onslaught that very few fighters can survive.
