Conor McGregor boasts he has dethroned footballer Cristiano Ronaldo as world's highest paid athlete

He is definitely the king of the UFC, as well as the King of trash talking. But did you know Conor McGregor also rules the world of top earning athletes? Well at least that's what he says, and he does say quite alot of things.

You just have to carefully seive through all that talk to separate fact from fiction—never an easy task with the Irishman.

But did he really dethrone the Real Madrid star to claim the prestigious title of Sport's top money earner? McGregor has bragged that he has surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo on Forbes athletes rich list.  - Something he told the Portugal and Madrid superstar footballer  back in 2016.

Well you can't blame him—ever since his mega money superfight with Floyd Mayweather,The Notorious has become something of a money magnet as endorsement after endorsement deals have been the norm for the Mixed martial arts fighter.

Infact it was after his latest big money endorsement deal with fast food chain Burger King that he went on social media to brag about his increased earnings.

His ego on adrenalin, McGregor labelled himself a "King," He then inevitably turned his sights on his last opponent. He challenged former pound for pound king Mayweather to rematch in the octagon.

This comes months after Floyd bested him in the 10th round of their much hyped boxing match. It was McGregor's first and Mayweather's fiftieth. It was also the match that lined The Irishman's pocket more than any other time in his successful fight career. I mean,  even though he lost,  he's still riding on the tide of the incredible publicity and endorsements the mega fight brought his way.

On his latest deal He wrote: "Making deals and TAKING deals! Kings recognise Kings!
"I am also really interested to see this year's Forbes highest paid athletes list.

"I have now surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo as I told him I would in 2016.

"Floyd as a retired fighter that makes ZERO substantial revenue outside of them ropes is not on the list, and in the long game, is already dead.

"Mixed Martial Arts is a glorious game, Floyd. You are going to love it hahaha."

McGregor also spoke about some of hip hop music's biggest names. He congratulated  Jay-Z for surpassing Diddy for the first time in years as the wealthiest rapper of 2018.

He also laid one into rapper 50 cent

Going for gold: Ronaldo was the highest paid athlete last year
"Ahh don't block me 50 kid, I still like some of your songs. The older ones hahah."

Apparantly, the 'Window shopper' Rapper had blocked McGregor on social media,  and he got some of the UFC Champion's slamming for that. All in good humour though. Typical McGregor.
