Even after 40 years, the legend of late singer Elvis continues to spawn new tales of the mega star's life and death. But what if the story has solid proof? And I mean solid— like letters penned by the great man himself. And when it is corroborated by the person who knew him the most in life? Then it's tough to call it a tall tale.
Priscilla, still a stunning woman at 72 years old, made the revelation ahead of the premiere of the HBO's new documentary Elvis Presley: The Searcher. The narrative looks into the entertainment Legend's ties to Memphis, Tennessee.
The only woman Elvis ever married, opened up about how deep into drug addiction her late ex-husband was, even years before he died at the age of 42 in 1977.
Two facts about How Elvis died
- He suffered from Insomnia and was awake most nights. And on the day of his death he ingested more prescription drugs in a 24 hour period than the doctor recommended.
- He was alone when he died inside his bathroom, but his fiance Ginger Alden Was only feet away asleep in the bedroom-she was the one who found him immobile on the floor later—when it was way too late to save him.

Priscilla admitted that she and other friends and family had failed to help him get off drugs. But not for the lack of trying, but because the King had a strong will, and his influence was overpowering.
She explained that people were wrong when the assumed that nothing was done to help him during his drug fuelled hell.
'People there in the inner group did, but you did not tell Elvis Presley what to do. You did not. I mean, you'd be out of there faster than a scratched cat. They would try and no way.'
He Elvis married Priscilla in 1967 and the following year Lisa Marie was born. Unfortunately, the marriage ended in divorce in 1973. But he kept her as his beneficiary in his will when he died. And since then, she has been the head of Elvis Presley Enterprises,(and done a mighty fine job of it too). She transformed his famous Memphis estate, Graceland into one of the top tourist attractions in America.
How did the King Elvis Presley start using drugs? Well, Priscilla blames his fatal addiction on his brief stint in the United States Army!
She spoke about how they gave the soldiers pills to keep them awake during night Maneuvers in the army. This routine action turned into a habit that the singer was never able to kick his whole life.
Last year—in December to be precise, Suicide letters written by Elvis to Joe Esposito his close friend and road manager, where found.
There were two letters which clearly hinted at the famous singer's depression, with the icon saying 'I'm sick and tired of my life' and 'I need a long rest'.
In the heart wrenching notes, he also revealed the 'embarrassment he felt because he couldn't kick drugs'.
Elvis also admitted that he could not recover' from 'losing Priscilla', which he said was 'the greatest mistake of my life'.
Finally, One of the two notes was dated in January 1977. This was only seven months before his death.
