Singer and actress Lady Gaga had tongues wagging as she stepped out in New York on Wednesday to the delight of fans.
She was bombarded by the crowd from all sides, seeking autographs and trying to get close to, or catch a glimpse of their larger than life idol.
Gaga was trying to promote the Movie A star is Born A remake of the 1937 classic. She stars in this movie alongside Bradley Cooper, who is also directed the flick.
Don’t get confused when you can’t find her name on the credits. The 32 year old actress is being credited in the new film not as Lady Gaga, but under her little known Christian name Stefani Germanotta.Co-written by Dorothy Parker, the original film which was released over eight decades ago, starred Janet Gaynor as a woman whose career grows from strength to strength, while the career of her older and more established love interest(played by Fredric March) plummets.
Both leads, Janet and Fredric, received Oscar nominations for their respective roles in the film.
Seventeen years later, George Cuksor remade the classic in 1954. This version starred the irreplaceable Judy Garland and a young James Mason. Again, in this remake, both leads received Academy award nominations as well.
Several decades later, in 1976 to be precise, the roles were reawakened by Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, in another successful remake.
Gaga who is actually a remarkable actress is sure to have pulled off a worthy performance and certainly wouldn’t let anyone down as she stars as the leading lady in this legendary role that has been played by some of Hollywood’s most iconic actresses.
