Serena Williams had her first child over a year ago and is now fully back playing the game of tennis she loves- and dominating the sport again. But she hasn't forgotten that her good friend Megahan Markle is also about to become a mother for the first time. With the Duchess expecting her first child with Prince Harry, her pal the tennis star , has some sound advice for her.
During the launch of her clothing line Miami Florida, Williams opened up to People. She revealed that the Duchess is still the same person she always was, despite being royalty now.
'I'm like, "How are you?" and she’s like, "No, how are?" and I’m like, "You’re so sweet, but I’m really asking – how are YOU?" said Serena.
'I’m like, "Meghan, stop being so nice…you’re the pregnant one, aren’t you supposed to have hormones, why are you so sweet?" But that’s always been her,' Williams said of her friend.
Back in September 2017 Williams a baby with husband Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit, so I guess tennis legend is in the perfect position to give her BFF mom-to-be plenty of advice.
'I don’t know what’s going to happen, I didn’t know how I’m going to have a baby, and it all came,' she explained.
'It’s so crazy, I totally changed, and it literally is like a switch. And so, I say that, "It will come."'
Markle also praised her friend Williams in a 2017 interview, where she said that she knew Williams would make a great mom.
'She will be an amazing mom,' Markle told Vogue last September. 'The very best, because she is so attuned to balancing strength and sensitivity.'
'Plus, given that she is pretty epic at karaoke, I think she’ll put her signature Serena spin on singing lullabies for the baby. I can’t wait for that!'
The pair have been really close friends since they met in 2010 at the Super Bowl to compete in the celebrity Beach bowl. Serena attended the Royal Wedding in May with Ohanian, while Markle cheered on Williams at Wimbledon along with fellow Royal Kate Middleton. Presently they don't get to see each other as often as they would like, but they still keep in touch.
