Game of Thrones Predictions: Who will sit on the Iron Throne?

- 1/18/2019
Who will sit on the Iron Throne? That is the main question most GOT fans are asking.

After the conclusion of Season 7, online betting sites had the bastard, Targaryen ? Jon Snow odds-on favourite to survive and claim the coveted seat as the real ruler of the Seven kingdoms.

At that time, the most common second favourite was the Mother of Dragons — Daenerys Targaryen. Though her potentially complicated romantic/sibling relationship with Jon does not bode well.

For either of them.

Surprisingly, the ambitious and wicked Lannister Queen Cersei saw a resurgence in popularity, and was rated the third most likely character to triumph. She is the current (not rightful) occupant of the Throne, but with her enemies at her doorstep, she is literally surrounded.

Recently, producers released the date for the start of season eight and all chaos broke out.

Things on the betting market have begun to change with the arrival of the first glimpses of the season ahead.

Every detail has been analysed, deconstructed and theorised: from Sansa Stark’s hair (ever notice how she always copied that worn by women she admired?) through to the feather that falls from the crypt of Lyanna Stark at the feet of her illegitimate son, Jon Snow, with the words ‘you must protect him’ as he passes by. The feather later freezes.

A lot of likely connections. Did that feather belong to a crow, and therefore signify Bran Stark’s otherworldly presence? Or does it in someway hark back to Season 1, Episode 1, where King Baratheon placed a feather on Lyanna Stark’s grave? Or when Sansa picked that same feather up in Season 5?

The recent released Game of Thrones Season 8 trailer didn't do much to put Game of Thrones fans at ease. The ominous teaser shows three of the four surviving Stark children find their own graves in the crypt beneath their castle of Winterfell.

Some things are very certain anyway: There will be War. There will be death(a lot of it) and the identities of the victims might shock us even more than the identities of the survivors. There will be great drama and unpredictable sorrow.

Brace yourself. Let the games begin.
